frk architects + engineers is a design firm located in West Des Moines, Iowa.  We provide architecture, structural engineering, and interior design services for educational and commercial clients throughout the state of Iowa and the Midwest.  We are seeking a skilled Specification Writer to join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of our design projects.

What You’ll Do:

• Edit and develop specifications for a wide range of architectural projects.
• Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure all project requirements are met.
• Review and analyze project plans, codes, and standards to ensure accurate and comprehensive specifications that match Drawings.
• Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies to provide cutting-edge solutions.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

What We’re Looking For:

• Skills: Attention to detail, strong organizational and written communication skills.
• Passion: Enthusiasm for architecture and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Experience: Proven track record with a minimum of 8 years in the architectural field with a solid portfolio is preferred and an understanding of architectural standards, building codes and specifications.

Business Office Manager

Are you an organized and detail-oriented professional with a strong background in business operations and accounting? Do you thrive in a small, dynamic office environment and enjoy making sure the numbers add up? If so, we want you on our team!

frk architects + engineers is seeking an experienced Business Office Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and processing accounting operations, managing human resources duties, and ensuring the smooth functioning of our office. Your expertise in accounting and strong communication skills will play a pivotal role in maintaining our day-to-day operations and supporting our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and process accounting transactions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and client billing.
• Prepare monthly financial reports to provide insights into our financial performance.
• Process IRS quarterly tax returns and manage year-end accounting procedures, including W-2s, 1099s, and the annual submission of accounting records to our accountant for corporate tax return preparation.
• Generate reports on project profitability using Deltek Vision accounting software.
• Coordinate human resource duties, including employee benefits management.
• Prioritize tasks effectively and work independently to meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Degree in accounting or business management and/or a minimum of three years of experience in business accounting and bookkeeping.
• Diligence and accuracy in client billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Familiarity with payroll and IRS quarterly tax return submittal.
• Adept in financial reporting and year-end accounting procedures.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Architectural Associate

frk architects + engineers is seeking an architectural associate to join our professional staff. The ideal candidate would have between three to five years of experience, licensed or working towards licensure. Other skills include design experience and knowledge of building technology and construction. Proficiency in Revit software is also required.
